Oh, haiii! All around the Sta-actus plant, the stalker chased the bandit, the stalker thought 'twas all in fun – POP!
Ariana Greenblatt, whose credits include films like The One and Only Ivan, Love and Monsters, and Avengers: Infinity War as young Gamora, will play the unstable thirteen-year-old explosives expert, Tiny Tina, in Eli Roth's Borderlands movie!
Greenblatt joins previously announced stars Cate Blanchett (Lilith), Kevin Hart (Roland), Jamie Lee Curtis (Dr. Tannis), and Jack Black (Claptrap) for the adaptation based on the incredibly popular video game franchise.
“Ariana is a spectacular new talent in cinema,” Roth said Monday in a statement. “She has already worked with many of my close collaborators and everyone raves about her. She blew us all away in her audition, and I cannot wait to see her bring the wild, insane, and unpredictable Tiny Tina to the big screen. She’s going to blow up on the screen like one of Tina’s grenades.”
Based on the best-selling PC and console gaming experience from developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K, a wholly owned label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., "Borderlands” has sold more than 66 million units sold worldwide, including over 24 million units of “Borderlands 2,” which is the highest-selling title in the history of 2K. The most recent installment, “Borderlands 3,” which launched in September 2019 and was recently released for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, has sold-in more than 11 million units worldwide and was honored with the award for Best Multiplayer Game at Gamescom 2019 and Best Ongoing Game at Gamescom 2020.
Well, this is the casting that I've been waiting for and I'm pleased to say that Greenblatt joining the film does not disappoint. As far as up-and-coming talents go, she appears to have the Hollywood game on lock, and I look forward to seeing her version of the character. Considering how manic and unpredictable Tiny Tina is from moment-to-moment, Greenblatt is going to have to summon all of her energy for the role. I hope the craft service table comes stocked with plenty of sugary treats because I have a feeling they're going to need them.
