Update: A full plot synopsis has been released, as well as news that this will be the first Bond movie to utilize IMAX cameras.
Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology

This morning EON assembled the cast and crew of the upcoming 25th BOND movie, and while everyone woke up this morning expecting a title reveal during this sunny conference we will remain trapped in the hell that is calling the movie BOND 25. However, we did get some other details out of the proceedings, including some small details about the plot and a confirmation that recently-minted-Oscar-winner Rami Malek will be playing the big baddie.

The gathering took place outing Bond author/creator Ian Flemming’s Goldeneye villa in Jamaica, where the books were all written and where parts of DR. NO and LIVE AND LET DIE were filmed. Director Cary Fukunaga was present, and among the cast confirmed and present as well were returning players Daniel Craig as Bond, Naomi Harris as Moneypenny and Lea Seydoux Madeleine Swann, with other confirmed returns being Ben Whishaw as Q, Ralph Fiennes as M, Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter and Rory Kinnear as Tanner. Among the new confirmed cast are Lashana Lynch (CAPTAIN MARVEL), Ana De Armas (BLADE RUNNER 2049), Billy Magnussen (GAME NIGHT), David Dencik (TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY), Dali Benssalah and, of course, Malek. There have also been rumors and unconfirmed reports that Christoph Waltz would be returning as Blofeld, but nothing was talked about on that front.
Also confirmed were shooting locations for Norway, Italy, Jamaica and at Pinewood Studios in England. Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are back on the script, this time being joined by Scott Z. Burns (CONTAGION) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (FLEABAG, SOLO). As for the story itself, we learned that this new outing will start with Bond not on active duty, and will be taking some time to relax on the beaches of Jamaica, which producer Barabara Brocolli called his "spiritual home."

Malek took to a special video sharing how not jealous he was of the rest of the cast being in Jamaica but assured how excited he was to part of the team. In an especially ominous way, he also said he will be “making sure Mr. Bond does not have an easy ride in this, his 25th outing.”

So, no, nothing huge, especially in terms of making everyone wake up "Oscar nominations" early. But, still, at least after what seems like decades of speculation, rumors and false starts we now have a confirmed cast, settings, writers and a director. They've got some good additions, and I'm certainly curious to see what kind of performance Malek brings to his villain character. Hopefully, they let him use his real teeth this time.
BOND 25 is now set for April 8, 2020.
