Looks like RAMBO is the newest flick to get the remake treatment.
No, I'm not talking about that RAMBO: NEW BLOOD movie we told you guys about last October. This new remake is coming our way from Bollywood. That said, this seems to be more of a remake of FIRST BLOOD, but I guess at this point we are splitting hairs. Name recognition means a lot, you know.
The Bollywood RAMBO remake is set to star Tiger Shroff (a martial arts expert) and will be directed by Siddharth Anand, whose most recent film was another Hollywood remake of the Tom Cruise action flick KNIGHT AND DAY… For some reason.
This news hits us only a few weeks after we shared the poster/trailer for the upcoming Bollywood remake of Mike Flanagan's OCULUS. And truthfully I feel that Hollywood had this coming. This what they/we get. Our industry pumps out mucho remakes of foreign flicks so it was only a matter of time till someone started remaking the sh*t out of our flicks.
And that's totally cool.
RAMBO Bollywood synopsis:
The last surviving member of an elite covert unit of the Indian Armed forces returns home to discover a war waging in his own land. Forced into the dangerous jungles and frozen mountains of the Himalayas, he unleashes mayhem and destruction, becoming the unstoppable machine he was trained to be.
Actually, that sounds pretty cool…
Anyhow, this remake is part of a five-picture deal Original Entertainment struck with Millennium Films back in 2013 for Bollywood remakes of THE EXPENDABLES, 16 BLOCKS, 88 MINUTES, and BROOKLYN'S FINEST.
RAMBO is set to start filming in February 2018.
