A new trailer has been released for A24’s slasher comedy Bodies Bodies Bodies, which is set to reach theatres on August 5th, and this one starts out by focusing on a character played by Maria Bakalova – who received an Oscar nomination for her performance in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm – as she makes her way to the party where the bodies soon start piling up. You can check out this new trailer in the embed above.
A24 first purchased Kristen Roupenian’s Bodies Bodies Bodies spec script back in March of 2018. The script was said to show “heightened sensitivity to character development and social dynamics in a subversive way”, and was described as
a shrewd character study where mystery and deep-seated scares blended in such a way that the company saw an opportunity to make a horror movie that could also be culturally relevant.
The script got some touch-up work from Sarah DeLappe, Chloe Okuno, Joshua Sharp, and Aaron Jackson in the time between acquisition when it went into production with Halina Reijn, who made her feature directorial debut with the 2019 Dutch thriller Instinct, at the helm. Roupenian receives story credit on the finished film, while DeLappe gets the screenplay credit.
Bodies Bodies Bodies has the following synopsis:
When a group of rich 20-somethings plan a hurricane party at a remote family mansion, a party game turns deadly in this fresh and funny look at backstabbing, fake friends, and one party gone very, very wrong.
In addition to Bakalova, Bodies Bodies Bodies stars Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give), Pete Davidson (The King of Staten Island), Rachel Sennott (Shiva Baby), Myha’la Herrold (Industry), Chase Sui Wonders (Generation), Conner O’Malley (Palm Springs), and Lee Pace (Guardians of the Galaxy).
Ali Herting and David Hinojosa produced the film, with Tatiana Bears and Lara Costa Calzado co-producing. Stenberg executive produced alongside Sebo Bear McClard, Dani Bernfeld, Sarah DeLappe, Christine D’Souza Gelb, and Jacob Jaffke.
I have been sold on Bodies Bodies Bodies for a long time now, so I didn’t really need to see another trailer for it. I just want to watch the movie already. Are you looking forward to this one? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
