At the end of April, a poster was unveiled for the A24 slasher Bodies Bodies Bodies, which is scheduled for an August 5th theatrical release. That poster only featured a large knife and the eyeballs of people who were shrouded in darkness, along with the film’s tagline “This Is Not a Safe Space”. Now a new poster has arrived online, and for this one the film’s characters are illuminated by phone lights, flashlights, and light-up necklaces and bracelets. You can see the new poster at the bottom of this article.
A24 first purchased Kristen Roupenian’s Bodies Bodies Bodies spec script back in March of 2018. The script was said to show “heightened sensitivity to character development and social dynamics in a subversive way”, and was described as
a shrewd character study where mystery and deep-seated scares blended in such a way that the company saw an opportunity to make a horror movie that could also be culturally relevant.
The script got some touch-up work from Sarah DeLappe, Chloe Okuno, Joshua Sharp, and Aaron Jackson in the time between acquisition when it went into production with Halina Reijn, who made her feature directorial debut with the 2019 Dutch thriller Instinct, at the helm. Roupenian receives story credit on the finished film, while DeLappe gets the screenplay credit.
Bodies Bodies Bodies has the following synopsis:
When a group of rich 20-somethings plan a hurricane party at a remote family mansion, a party game turns deadly in this fresh and funny look at backstabbing, fake friends, and one party gone very, very wrong.
Bodies Bodies Bodies stars Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give), Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm), Pete Davidson (The King of Staten Island), Rachel Sennott (Shiva Baby), Myha’la Herrold (Industry), Chase Sui Wonders (Generation), Conner O’Malley (Palm Springs), and Lee Pace (Guardians of the Galaxy).
This movie looks like fun to me, so I will definitely be checking it out this summer. Will you be watching Bodies Bodies Bodies? Share your thoughts on this one by leaving a comment below.
