Bob Saget, the legendary star of Full House and host of the long-running America’s Funniest Home Videos, has died suddenly at only 65 years old. This comes only months after his pal, Norm MacDonald, passed away (Saget directed him in the film Dirty Work). According to Deadline, Saget was found dead in his hotel room in Orlando, Florida, but a follow-up tweet from the local sheriff’s office noted no signs of foul play or drug use is suspected. Saget had performed a stand-up set last night, and after the show had sent out a tweet thanking his audience.
While Saget is best known for his family-friendly roles, he was also celebrated as a stand-up comic and a notoriously filthy one who was a far cry from the lovable Danny Tanner, who he portrayed on Full House from 1987-1995 on ABC. If you’ve seen his filthy take on the titular joke in The Aristocrats or his cameo in Half-Baked, you’ll know what I’m talking about. He was also on its Netflix sequel series, Fuller House, and, in another family-friendly turn, voiced the future Ted Mosby on How I Met Your Mother.
It didn’t take long for Saget’s friends and co-workers to start tweeting their condolences.
If you want to get an idea of how filthy (and hilarious) Saget could be, well, I would embed his joke from The Aristocrats, but hey – this is a family site. You can find it pretty easily on YouTube. It’s gross but FUNNY. Here’s a clip of a somewhat more mild-mannered Saget.
