Blumhouse’s The Craft remake officially snags director

Earlier this week we passed along the news that Blumhouse is remaking director Andrew Fleming's THE CRAFT starring Fairuza Balk, Robin Tunney, Neve Campbell, and Rachel True. And today we have confirmation via THR who also confirms the remake has snagged its director.

Actress and indie filmmaker Zoe Lister-Jones has been tapped to write and direct a contemporary take. While she is a director know for helming a movie called BAND AID, she is known better as an actress from roles in movies such as SALT and THE OTHER GUYS. She also has an extensive TV career with long-running roles in shows such as Whitney where she played a character named Lily for 38 episodes, and a show called Life in Pieces where she played a character named Jen for 67 episodes.

We already reported all of this. But now, it's, you know, official. So there you go. Production Weekly says the remake goes like this:

A remake of the 1996 supernatural teen thriller. When starting at a new school, Hannah befriends Tabby, Lourdes, and Frankie & quickly becomes the fourth member of their clique. Hannah soon learns that she somehow brings a great power to the quartet.

Lister-Jones (BAND AID) will write and direct Blumhouse's THE CRAFT with Jason Blum producing along with Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher's Red Wagon Entertainment, which was behind the original pic. Red Wagon's Lucas Wiesendanger will executive produce, along with Andrew Fleming, who directed the original movie. Columbia Pictures and Jason Blum's Blumhouse will finance the flick which is set to start shooting in July.
