Blumhouse’s Black Christmas remake gets Blu-ray/DVD release in March

I haven't seen Blumhouse's BLACK CHRISTMAS remake yet, but I feel like I already know everything about it. Rather than wait for viewers to dig into their work and search for deeper meaning, the filmmakers behind this one were quite willing to give away everything and reveal the thought process behind every element of the story by opening weekend. The movie never had a chance to speak for itself, a fact that didn't sit well with many in the online film community, helping this take on BLACK CHRISTMAS pull in just $18.5 million at the global box office.

Now BLACK CHRISTMAS is getting another chance to entice viewers, as it's set to reach DVD and Blu-ray on March 17th. Copies can be pre-ordered HERE.

Directed by Sophia Takal from a screenplay she wrote with April Wolfe, BLACK CHRISTMAS 2019 has the following synopsis:

Hawthorne College is quieting down for the holidays. But as Riley Stone (Imogen Poots, Green Room) and her Mu Kappa Epsilon sisters – athlete Marty (Lily Donoghue, The CW's Jane the Virgin), rebel Kris (Aleyse Shannon, The CW's Charmed), and foodie Jesse (Brittany O'Grady, Fox's Star) – prepare to deck the halls with a series of seasonal parties, a black-masked stalker begins killing sorority women one by one.

As the body count rises, Riley and her squad start to question whether they can trust any man, including Marty's beta-male boyfriend, Nate (Simon Mead, Same But Different: A True New Zealand Love Story), Riley's new crush Landon (Caleb Eberhardt, Amazon's Mozart in the Jungle) or even esteemed classics instructor Professor Gelson (Cary Elwes).

Whoever the killer is, he's about to discover that this generation's young women aren't about to be anybody's victims.

The home video release will include these special features:

– Alternate Ending

– Deleted and Extended Scenes

– You Messed with the Wrong Sisters

– The (Re)Making of a Cult Classic

– Welcome to Mu Kappa Epsilon

– Feature Commentary by Director Sophia Takal and Star Imogen Poots

The original BLACK CHRISTMAS was released in 1974, and another remake was released in 2006. I'm not too hyped about what I've heard about the 2019 version, but I'll be watching it in March.
