There's a new Blumhouse movie coming out this weekend, but if it's been flying under your radar it's because the film is only being released in one theatre, the Arena Cinelounge Sunset in Hollywood, where it will be screening from March 16th through the 22nd.
Directed by Sonny Mallhi, the film is titled FAMILY BLOOD and stars Vinessa Shaw, James Ransone, Colin Ford, Ajiona Alexus, and Eloise Lushina.
The story:
Ellie, a recovering drug addict, has just moved to a new city with her two teenage children. She has struggled to stay sober in the past and is determined to make it work this time, finding a stable job and regularly attending her meetings. Unfortunately, new friends, a new job, and the chance of a new life, can’t keep Ellie from slipping once again. Her life changes when she meets Christopher – a different kind of addict – which forces her daughter and son to accept a new version of Ellie.
While the synopsis makes the film sound like a straightforward drama about substance abuse, there is some indication (like the title and poster) that this is actually a vampire movie – and the wooden stake featured in the image above goes a long way toward confirming that the "different kind of addiction" the story deals with is an addiction to drinking blood.
If you can't make it to the Arena theatre in the next week, you'll still have a chance to see FAMILY BLOOD very soon. If you have a subscription to the Netflix streaming service, it will be coming right to your house by the end of the month.
After its theatrical run ends, FAMILY BLOOD will be available for viewing through Netflix as of March 31st.
