TheWrap reports that among the 31 projects chosen for the California Film Commission's tax credit, it looks like THE PURGE 2 has landed a spot on the list despite the fact the the first film is still a few days away from its release. It will be interesting to see how well THE PURGE performs this weekend at the box office. Yeah I know, not the most interesting thing you'll read today but we'll be sure to keep you fine folks up to date if this turns into anything you guys should know about!
THE PURGE is set in the not-so-distant future where the American government has sanctioned an annual 12-hour period in which any and all criminal activity – including murder – is legal. The police can’t be called. Hospitals suspend help. It is one night when the citizenry regulates itself without thought of punishment. On this night plagued by violence and an epidemic of crime, one family wrestles with the decision of who they will become when a stranger comes knocking.
THE PURGE is directed by James DeMonaco and lands in theaters this weekend, starring Ethan Hawke, Lena Headey, Max Burkholder, Adelaide Kane, Edwin Hodge, Tony Oller, and Rhys Wakefield.
