Blue Beetle: Check out the 10-minute opening scene of the DC movie

Check out the 10 minute opening scene of Blue Beetle, which introduces the first hero of the new DC Universe.

Blue Beetle may have been a box-office bomb, but it also was the best-reviewed DCEU movie of the last two years. Now that Blue Beetle is available on Digital, fans can check out the movie in the comfort of their homes, but if you’re still on the fence, the 10-minute Blue Beetle opening sequence has been released.

The Blue Beetle opening begins with Victoria Kord (Susan Sarandon) and Carapax (Raoul Max Trujillo) working to unearth the Scarab in Antarctica. Cue the title credits, and we meet Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña) coming home to Palmera City fresh from graduation. Unfortunately, he learns that his family is in danger of losing their home due to financial difficulties.

As James Gunn has said that Blue Beetle is the first DCU character, we may not have seen the last of him despite the movie’s poor performance at the box office, which comes as a relief to director Ángel Manuel Soto.

Yeah, that was for sure one of the elements of relief. It’s the fact that all of this effort was not going to die during this regime change,” Soto told THR last month. “We survived regime changes throughout this whole process, and that was a testament to the hard work that everybody put into it. There’s also a belief in our characters, who are now going to be part of this new DC universe, especially Xolo’s character and his whole family and Bruna Marquezine’s character. So, knowing that they are going to continue to move forward in the DCU allowed me to feel relief for myself and for them. It’s a testament to the amount of heart and talent that they have.

As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab,” reads the official Blue Beetle synopsis. “When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle.
