UPDATE: Paramount and Red Granite have reached out to inform us that there will be no extended director’s cut of the film. The home video release will be the same as the theatrical, despite claims made by Daily Mail.
Earlier this month director Martin Scorsese said he didn't think his four hour cut of THE WOLF OF WALL STREET will be released, but according to producers Joey McFarland and Riza Aziz, the extra hour will be added to Blu-ray and DVD versions of the film. McFarland and Aziz were at the Directors Guild of America Awards, where they talked a little to The Daily Mail about the longer version.
Here's McFarland on the four hour cut:
"I think we are going to have some good surprises to be honest with you the movie is not much different in its longer form, it's just longer versions of scenes. Nothing really got cut out so it's a lot more of what you've already seen."
Aziz also added that, "the sex scenes run a little longer but nothing extreme," in the longer version, and it will feature 25% more F-bombs. Ok, so he was slightly kidding with that last part, but it isn't too surprising considering the film holds the record for most uses of the naughty word for a drama.
Some may think a longer version of THE WOLF OF WALL STREET is unnecessary because it's already three hours long and Martin Scorsese is happy with the cut that was released into theaters, and others might think it'll just be more of Leonardo DiCaprio's Jordan Belfort getting f*cked up and having sexy time. However, I really want to check out the four hour cut. I don't think the longer version will be better than the original, but I'm still very interested in seeing what Martin Scorsese decided to cut from his film.
