Blu Hunt to nock her bow as Danielle Moonstar for X-Men’s New Mutants film

I swear, I feel like every time I refresh my screen, someone new has been added to Marvel's NEW MUTANTS film project. That's not to say that this is a bad thing, mind you. The more the merrier, I say, so long as your character balancing act game is on-point. 

This afternoon, we've learned that actress and writer Blu Hunt (THE ORIGINALS, GIRL ON GIRL, THIS IS IT) will join Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, and Henry Zaga (with Rosario Dawson still in negotiations) for director Josh Boone's NEW MUTANTS. As far as we know, the film will center on mutant teens who are coming to grips with their superpowers while trying to escape a secret facility. Taylor-Joy will act as Illyana Rasputin, aka Magik. Williams will portray Rahne Sinclair, aka Wolfsbane, Heaton is playing portraying Sam Guthrie, aka Cannonball, and Zaga is playing Sunspot.

Simon Kinberg and Karen Rosenfelt are producing the NEW MUTANTS project, which is based off the X-Men spinoff comic book series orchestrated by creators Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod. The team made their comic book debut in the pages of Marvel Graphic Novels #4 in December of 1982.

Danielle Moonstar is of Native American decent and hails from the Cheyenne Nation. In the past, Danielle struggled to control her abilities, which involved creating visible images of people's greatest fears. The only people who stood by Danielle's side through her difficult adolescence were her parents, William and Peg Lonestar, and her grandfather, the chief and shaman of her people, Black Eagle. In addition to being a member of the New Mutants, "Dani" Moonstar has also been affiliated with multiple super hero groups from the Marvel Universe, including, but not limited to: The X-Men, The Defenders, Young X-Men, the Mutant Liberation Front, the Valkyrie Initiative and more!

NEW MUTANTS is now in pre-production and is scheduled for an April 13, 2018 release.
