Blood and cocaine take center stage in first trailer for Netflix’s Narcos

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It's like Netflix just doesn't want me to have a life at all; Narcos, a new Netflix series which tells the true story of U.S. and Colombian efforts in the 1980s to battle the infamous Pablo Escobar and the Medellin drug cartel, has released a trailer which gives us our first actual footage from the show and damn if I'm not already on board.

Check out the trailer and let us know if you'll be watching.

When news first broke that Netflix would be producing their own original series, I doubt many of us realized at the time that they'd wind up delivering shows which would come close to standing toe-to-toe with HBO, Showtime, and the other top-notch providers of quality television. It may be a little too early to say, but Narcos looks like another winner for Netflix; at the very least, they can count on me flopping down on the couch on August 28th.

Pedro Pascal and Boyd Holbrook will star as real-life DEA Agents Javier Peña and Steve Murphy respectively, while Wagner Moura will fill the role of Pablo Escobar himself. Stephanie Sigman, Luis Guzman, Juan Pablo Raba, Johanna Christie, Manolo Cardona, André Mattos, Ana de la Reguera, and Juan Pablo Raba will round out the rest of the cast.

Netflix's synopsis for Narcos:

Narcos chronicles the gripping real-life stories of the drug kingpins of the late 1980s and the corroborative efforts of law enforcement to meet them head on in brutal, bloody conflict. It details the conflicting forces – legal, political, police, military and civilian – that clash in an effort to control the world’s most powerful commodity: cocaine.

All ten-episodes of Narcos will hit Netflix on August 28.
