A few months ago, we learned that singer Mary J. Blige, who recently earned an Oscar nomination for her role in the film MUDBOUND, had signed on to star in director Malik Vitthal's Paramount Players horror thriller BODY CAM. As the project moves toward production, Vitthal has been assembling a supporting cast around Blige.

That supporting cast now consists of Nat Wolff, star of Adam Wingard's DEATH NOTE; Tony winner Anika Noni Rose; and former New York Police officer / Dexter cast member David Zayas. Zayas (pictured above) will be playing a police officer in the film, his character being Sgt. Kesper.

BODY CAM started off as a spec script written by Richmond Riedel, which has since received revisions by THE PACT writer/director Nicholas McCarthy and John Ridley, the Oscar-winning writer of 12 YEARS A SLAVE. Described as a tonal blend of GET OUT and END OF WATCH, this film's story centers on

several LAPD police officers who are haunted by a malevolent spirit that is tied to the murder of a black youth at the hands of two white cops. All of them are caught on a body cam video that was destroyed in a cover-up.

BODY CAM is being produced by Matt Kaplan. It seems like this one will be an intriguing, topical button-pusher, and hopefully it will tell a good, creepy horror tale while dealing with real world issues.
