Robin Wright is going from "Run, Forrest, Run!" to BLADE RUNNER. BLADE RUNNER 2, from SICARIO helmer Dennis Villenueve, has just made the "wright" decision, adding the House of Cards actress to the cast.
Between the massively successful Netflix series (which she is also producing) and roles in films like EVEREST, THE CONGRESS, and THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, this is a real Golden Age for her, and although we don't know any details, this new role will certainly cement her place in the American pop culture idiom once more.
She got her big break in THE PRINCESS BRIDE, later appearing in FORREST GUMP, but her roles these days are much more fascinating and it will be real fun to see her taking on a sci-fi epic like BLADE RUNNER. This is just speculation obviously, but if she takes on the role of "Replicant or human?" femme fatale, she would knock it out of the park. Just saying.
BLADE RUNNER 2 also stars Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford. The screenplay is being penned by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, from a story by Scott and Fancher. It
