I’ve found Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader to be comedic gold just about any time they work together. Even if they barely interact in a movie (as with PAUL, for example), something about their combined energy manages to carry the project to a whole new comedic level for me.
So you can imagine my immediate interest when I read that Wiig would be replacing Anna Faris in a dramedy with Bill Hader titled THE SKELETON TWINS co-written by Mark Heyman (BLACK SWAN) and Craig Johnson (who is also helming), a movie that deals with “a set of twins, Maggie and Milo, who manage to defy death on the same day, and as a result take a hard look at their lives. Maggie examines her marriage to the nice guy frat boy Lance, while her gay brother Milo comes to terms with the his relationship with Rich.” Luke Wilson has also joined the production, presumably to play “the nice guy frat boy Lance.”
THE SKELETON TWINS is being produced by Mark and Jay Duplass (JEFF, WHO LIVES AT HOME). Filming starts next month in New York with what is no doubt an eye towards releasing some time mid-to-late next year.
