Lost and Sleepy Hollow actor Jeremy Davies has answered the call to star in Black Phone, an upcoming horror film from Scott Derrickson (Sinister, Doctor Strange) for Blumhouse and Universal.
Based on a novella by Joe Hill included in his "20th Century Ghosts" story collection, "The Black Phone" follows John Finney, a young boy who finds himself locked in a basement that's stained with the blood of half a dozen other murdered children. In the cellar with him is an antique telephone, long since disconnected, but which rings at night with calls from the dead. I'm sorry, what? That sounds terrifying? Is Joe Hill okay? Does he need a hug? It's not like he grew up while having Stephen King for a Dad or …, Oh, hold up, that's exactly what happened.
Derrickson and frequent collaborator C. Robert Cargill (Sinister) adapted the script, which has Derrickson, Cargill, and Jason Blum producing. Joe Hill is an executive producer. A previous report printed on October 30, 2020, cites that Mason Thames (For All Mankind) and Madeleine McGraw (Toy Story 4) will also star.
While elements of Black Phone are still under construction, Derrickson is busy gearing up for Bermuda, a feature described as a mystery thriller revolving around the infamous Bermuda Triangle where ships and planes have reported bizarre occurrences. Bermuda is currently in pre-production, with Chris Evans rumored to be starring as a character named Dr. Fisk.
