Showtime has decided to end its comedy series Black Monday after three seasons. The Don Cheadle-led series was revealed to be ending by one of the stars, Paul Scheer, during a Twitch stream on January 20, 2022, per “Deadline.”
Black Monday followed a crew of underdogs causing the worst stock market crash in the history of Wall Street on October 19, 1987, better known as the real-life global stock market crash called “Black Monday.” The series stars Don Cheadle, Paul Scheer, Regina Hall, and Andrew Rannells. Here is what Scheer had to say about the cancellation:
“I guess we haven’t said it. Let’s say Black Monday was not renewed. It’s been a known factor for months and months and months, but I guess no one has officially said it. But now I have.”
Showtime did issue an official statement about the cancellation that read “We can confirm that Black Monday will not be moving forward with a fourth season. Don Cheadle, Regina Hall, Andrew Rannells, Paul Scheer and Casey Wilson led a fantastic cast, and we are grateful to Jordan Cahan, David Caspe, and all who worked on the show for three hilarious seasons.”
The season 3 finale of Black Monday ended with Don Cheadle’s Mo heading to the hospital after taking a bullet for Regina Hall’s Dawn. I guess now fans will never get to know what happens after all that because Showtime has ended the series on a bit of a cliffhanger. Never a good thing for fans when this happens.
