Black goo to return in Alien: Covenant; plus new Danny McBride pic!

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

ALIEN: COVENANT details have been bursting from the stomach of Ridley Scott, who just wrapped filming on the PROMETHEUS sequel. The most recent development comes from, oddly, an introductory video for the second season of the Amazon series The Man in the High Castle.

Ridley Scott introduces the show from the COVENANT set, in front of a row of ampules like the ones in PROMETHEUS' Juggernaut ship. Scified speculates that this indicates the return of the notorious Black Goo.

While I normally wouldn't lend credence to this kind of fansite Sherlock Holmes-ing, this article was shared by COVENANT's official Twitter account with the message "Ampules and the 'Black Goo' will be in Alien: Covenant." That seems pretty cut and dry. Make sure to wear gloves, because the Black Goo is coming back!

You can analyze the video yourself below. Also, check out the newest picture from the set, depicting Danny McBride defying gravity in a cowboy hat. His outfit seems more Western that sci-fi, so I think we'll be getting something a little out there from the character.

Written by Michael Green, Jack Paglen, and John Logan, ALIEN: COVENANT has the following synopsis:

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

The cast also includes Danny McBride, Noomi Rapace, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Callie Hernandez, Billy Crudup, and Benjamin Rigby, with Fassbender back in the role of David.

The movie will blast off on August 4, 2017.
