Netflix has released a trailer for their Swedish post-apocalyptic thriller Black Crab, which is coming to the streaming service on March 18th, and you can watch that in the embed above. You can also scope out a poster for the film at the bottom of this article.
The feature directorial debut of shorts and music video director Adam Berg, Black Crab stars Noomi Rapace (Prometheus) and follows “six soldiers on a desperate mission to bring an end to the war which has destroyed their lives.” The story is set in
a post-apocalyptic world torn apart by war. During a long, harsh winter, six soldiers embark on a covert mission across a frozen archipelago, risking their lives to transport a mysterious package that could end the war. As they enter hostile enemy territory, they have no idea what dangers lie ahead or who—if anyone—they can trust. But for speed skater turned soldier Caroline Edh, the mission is about something else entirely.
It’s not often you hear a character described as a “speed skater turned soldier”. As you can see in the trailer, Caroline’s skating abilities will come in handy over the course of the story.
Rapace is joined in the cast by Jakob Oftebro (Kon-Tiki), Erik Enge (The Bridge), Dar Salim (Game of Thrones), Ardalan Esmaili (Sea Fever), Aliette Opheim (Patriot), and David Dencik (No Time to Die).
Berg wrote the screenplay with Pelle Rådström, making this the first feature writing project for both of them. The film is based on a novel by Jerker Virdborg.
Black Crab was produced by Malin Idevall and Mattias Montero. Rapace and Berg served as executive producers alongside Christopher Granier-Deferre, Emil Wiklund, and Kim Magnusson.
