Black & Blanchett lead magical The House with a Clock in its Walls trailer

Have you ever walked into an old house and felt like something was not quite right? Was there a strange sound coming from the walls, and the floors were just too creaky? Did Jack Black and Cate Blanchett then show up and say you're not crazy, and indeed the house is beyond crazy, and there's some sort of clock in the walls? Okay maybe you have experienced the first bit, but that last part is unique to a little boy, Lewis (Owen Vaccaro), who is about to go on the craziest journey ever. Black and Blanchett star in the fantastical film from Eli Roth (Yes, CABIN FEVER, DEATH WISH Eli Roth) which has gotten its first magical trailer.

Here is the plot synopsis.

In the tradition of Amblin classics where fantastical events occur in the most unexpected places, Jack Black and two-time Academy Award® winner Cate Blanchett star in The House with a Clock in Its Walls, from Amblin Entertainment.  The magical adventure tells the spine-tingling tale of 10-year-old Lewis (Owen Vaccaro) who goes to live with his uncle in a creaky old house with a mysterious tick-tocking heart.  But his new town’s sleepy façade jolts to life with a secret world of warlocks and witches when Lewis accidentally awakens the dead.

The movies looks like a spectacular, old-school adventure straight from the pages of a book you would read under the covers as a kid. Blanchett and Black look they're having a fun time, and who knew Roth would do something so…not horrifically bloody. This first trailer certainly has me interested and looks like the recent MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN, which had some stuff going for it. That all being said, I'm putting $5 down now and betting someone gets tortured by the end of the movie. This is an Eli Roth movie after all.
