Black Adam has been in development for so long that it almost feels a little surreal that the film is actually shooting, but shooting it is, and Dwayne Johnson has shared a couple of photos from the set featuring a look at an enormous sound-stage as well as a shrouded glimpse at the title character himself. Check those out below!
"We’re hitting our midway point stride and our A-Team production crew continue to showcase why they’re the best in our industry," Johnson wrote in the caption, and went on to tease a little about the history of his character. "If you know the comic book mythology, then you know where his pain comes from," wrote Johnson. "His rage. His wife and children killed. His people brutally enslaved. He is not a superhero, but rather a champion. Champion of the poor and beaten down. Champion of the people. And he is the most unstoppable force in the DC UNIVERSE." In addition to Dwayne Johnson, Black Adam is also set to introduce the Justice Society as Noah Centineo is onboard to play Atom Smasher, with Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate. Black Adam is also slated to star Sarah Shahi as "a university professor and freedom fighter leading the resistance in Kahndaq," as well as Marwan Kenzari in a mysterious role expected to be the main villain. Mohammed Amer, James Cusati-Moyer, Uli Latukefu, and Bodhi Sabongui round out the rest of the cast.
Black Adam is currently slated to hit theaters on July 29, 2022.
