After experiencing numerous delays, production on Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam is finally slated to kick off in Atlanta this April and the cast is continuing to come together. According to THR, the latest addition to the DC Comics superhero flick is Marwan Kenzari, recently seen starring alongside Charlize Theron in Netflix's The Old Guard as well as playing Jafar in Disney's live-action Aladdin.

At the moment, exactly who Marwan Kenzari will be playing in Black Adam is being kept under wraps, but rumblings have pointed to Kenzari playing the villain of the film. Any guesses who that might be? The actor will be joining Dwayne Johnson, who is set to star as Black Adam, as well as Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone. Plot details are also being kept under wraps, but producer Hiram Garcia has previously teased that the film will be introducing the Justice Society.

We are so excited to introduce the Justice Society, especially Hawkman who’s such a beloved character and one of those heroes who’s always meant so much to the DC universe. Having them play in the same sandbox as Black Adam is going to be fantastic, and for the already established fans of these characters I think they are going to be really excited to see what elements from classic story lines we take inspiration from as we bring these characters together. When you take a powerhouse like Black Adam and inject him into this DC cinematic universe you want to make sure you are putting characters around him that can really up the stakes. As DJ likes to say the hierarchy of power in the DC universe really is going to change so Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher and Cyclone will have their hands full no matter how we choose to have them interact with Black Adam.

Black Adam is slated to be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who also directed Dwayne Johnson in Disney's upcoming Jungle Cruise, and while the film was once set to hit theaters this December, COVID-19 delays have forced it off the schedule for now.
