Update: Moments after Dwayne Johnson made his announcement about Black Adam and DC League of Super-Pets getting new release dates, Warner Bros. announced changes to its entire slate of superhero films and beyond. We’ve heard that the changes are due to Covid-related matters. You can view the updated list of upcoming films below:
Notably, other than the new Fantastic Beasts and Elvis (which comes out on June 24th), almost every other movie in their schedule from the rest of the year comes from the New Line Cinema wing of the studio. The loss of The Flash and Aquaman will surely affect the studio’s bottom line for the year, although 2023 is primed to be perhaps their biggest year ever, with all the DC movies, plus Dune Part 2.

Do you smell what The Rock is cooking? It smells like delays to me. Dwayne Johnson announced on his Instagram page that Black Adam and DC League of Super-Pets are getting new release dates. Black Adam is flying to October 21, 2022, and Super-Pets is padding over to July 29, 2022.
While speaking to his fans from a sun-drenched Hawaiian locale, Johnson described the release date delays as “movin’ and groovin'” and “planting two flags” for each film. Interestingly, Black Adam‘s new date has the film coming out two weeks before The Flash. Either DC is playing it fast and loose with the box office, or they’re looking to dominate the top spot for several weeks. Johnson also noted that Black Adam will play through Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Yeah, I’m expecting The Flash to be delayed now. I could be wrong, but I don’t see both films occupying the same space.
What do you think about Black Adam and DC League of Super-Pets getting delayed? Do you think a release date change for The Flash is just around the corner?
