Bjork, Robert Eggers, The Northman

Friends! As I was sitting in my office just now, blasting Bjork's 2011 album "Biophilia" at a volume that would make Spinal Tap blush, I learned that the Icelandic songstress has joined the cast of Robert Eggers' THE NORTHMAN. It's taking everything that I have not to burst out of my skin right now with excitement. Bjork is without a doubt my favorite musical artist of all time, and the thought of her working alongside Eggers has me beaming!

Taking place in Iceland and presented as a Viking revenge saga at the turn of the 10th century, THE NORTHMAN cast includes Bill Skarsgård, Anya Taylor-Joy, Nicole Kidman, Alexander Skarsgård, Claes Bang, Willem Dafoe, and now, Björk Guðmundsdóttir. Take my money!

THE NORTHMAN is currently filming on a quiet set in Ireland, on a site that is close to Antrim Hills, near Larne on the country’s east coast. (via The Belfast Telegraph)

In addition to being one of music history's most unique, innovative, and inspirational artists, Bjork also starred in Lars von Trier's DANCER IN THE DARK. In the emotionally-crippling musical drama, Bjork plays Selma Jezkova, an East European girl who travels to the United States with her young son, expecting it to be like a Hollywood film. Spoiler alert: It's not. While beautiful in several regards, this film is also a tear-jerker that left me feeling rattled and reaching for a box of tissues to dry my eyes. In addition to starring in the film, Bjork also composed the drama's spirited soundtrack, titled Selmasongs.

Vikings? Robert Eggers? Bjork? Well, I know what movie just shot to the top of my must-see list.
