B.J. Novak is primarily known for his work in the comedy genre, particularly for his association with the U.S. version of the television series The Office. On that show, Novak was a producer, wrote fifteen episodes, directed five episodes, and played the role of Ryan Howard. For his next project, Novak is switching genres – for the last two weeks, he has been directing a thriller called VENGEANCE for Blumhouse Productions.
This project was being made under the radar, and unfortunately the reason we have heard about it at this point is the fact that production has been suspended due to Coronavirus concerns.
The plot of VENGEANCE is still being kept under wraps, but we do know that Novak wrote the screenplay and stars in the film alongside Issa Rae, Ashton Kutcher, and Boyd Holbrook.
Blumhouse's Jason Blum is producing the film with Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath of Divide/Conquer.
It makes sense that Blumhouse is the production company working with Novak as he takes a step outside of comedy, as they previously collaborated with comedy performers Jordan Peele and Danny McBride on the likes of GET OUT and the HALLOWEEN sequels. I look forward to seeing how this one turns out.
