The DC universe of movies is on a much-needed hot streak, with AQUAMAN becoming one of the biggest movies ever at the box office around the world and SHAZAM! winning rave reviews and topping the box office for the second weekend in a row. Things are looking good for the slate of movies, and in February one of their more unique and uniquely-titled entries will be hitting theaters – BIRDS OF PREY (AND THE FANTABULOUS EMANCIPATION OF ONE HARLEY QUINN) – and to get you ready for all the colorful strangeness news has dropped that filming has wrapped.

Margot Robbie’s productionLuckyChap Entertainment posted a picture of Robbie chilling in her set chair dressed as Harley Quinn, and while that may not be particularly exciting, with it comes the caption "That's a wrap!" and a new look at the movie’s title design. Making up the letters of the title are images of a bat, knife, arrow and other weaponry, along with a graffiti-looking design of the rest of the title, which will surely make theatergoers across the country press their faces against the poster case and read through squinted eyes.

We’ve been fortunate enough to already have seen a decent amount of the movie from director Cathy Yan, thanks primarily to a hypnotic teaser featuring all the characters, making it look like SUICIDE SQUAD meets SPRING BREAKERS. Making up the cast we have Robbie alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell’s Black Canary, Rosie Perez’s Renee Montoya, Ewan McGregor’s villainous Black Mask, and Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz.
Warner Bros. and DC seem to have found their groove in solo movies, focusing more on individual characters than on the world building they were before. I hope they can make that work for something like BIRDS OF PREY, which features Quinn with other major DC characters. It looks cool enough, so when we see a trailer (maybe come Comic-Con?) we will know more for sure.
BIRDS OF PREY is in theaters February 7, 2020.
