A teaser trailer with attitude has leaked for BIRDS OF PREY (AND THE FANTABULOUS EMANCIPATION OF ONE HARLEY QUINN)!
The trailer begins with the all-too-familiar and frightening sound of haunted violins from Andy Muschietti's remake of Stephen King's IT. As red balloons float past a dark WB logo, Harley emerges from the shadows and smashes the balloons with her trusty mallet. With a sh*t-eating grin on her face, she looks us dead in the eye and exclaims, "I'm so f*cking over clowns." Shortly thereafter, the teaser comes alive thanks in-part to the tune "Heads Will Roll" from the indie rock band Yeah Yeah Yeahs. As we jump from smash-cut to smash-cut, we witness DC's femme fatales – Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Helena Bertinelli/Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco) – wrecking house as they carve their way through one villain after the next. It's bloody, bodacious, and I'll be damned if this teaser isn't packed with energy and style!

Joining the Birds for their big screen debut are Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain / Batgirl, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Chris Messina as the villainous Victor Zsasz, and Ewan McGregor as Black Mask. Directing the film is DEAD PIGS helmer Cathy Yan from a script by Christina Hodson (BUMBLEBEE, UNFORGETTABLE).
Little is known about the film's plot thus far, though you can be certain that it will include plenty of violence courtesy of the project's unorthodox team of female heroes/anti-heroes. It's also been said that BIRDS OF PREY will see Harley establishing a new reputation for herself, as she's grown sick and tired of being hailed as the Joker's Queenpin of Crime. Mistah J ain't got nothin' on Harley's new lease on life, and she's about to show the world that she's full of more than just sugar, spice, and everything that isn't nice.
BIRDS OF PREY (AND THE FANTABULOUS EMANCIPATION OF ONE HARLEY QUINN) is expected to smash its way into theaters sometime in 2020.
