Birds of Prey set photos reveal new looks at Harley Quinn, Huntress

While AQUAMAN is still swimming its way up the box office DC is hard at work on the upcoming BIRDS OF PREY (AND THE FANTABULOUS EMANCIPATION OF ONE HARLEY QUINN), featuring a team of crime-fighters including Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. A year out and we’ve already gotten a little taste of the movie with a short teaser that assembled the crew, and now some shutterbugs have captured new looks at Robbie’s Quinn and Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Huntress, with the latter looking all sorts of cool, and the former looking…homeless.

The photos from the set of the movie made their way onto the world wide web, showing some new looks at the characters. In terms of Winstead’s Huntress, this is easily the best look we’ve got at the character yet. While in the comics the character has the typical outfit of spandex and a cape, here she’s rocking what looks like some biker duds, including a chain around her body that she no doubt uses to keep said bike locked up good and tight.

The next series of photos are all of Quinn, with the first batch looking her out of a place to call home. All her things are in a little crate she’s carrying, meaning she must be in need of some pals. Maybe she and Joker had a big fight and he told her to hit the bricks, or she realized being with a man with the word “Damaged” tattooed on his forehead wasn’t the best move.

Next, we have Quinn doing some errands with Ella Jay Basco’s Cassandra Cain, followed by pictures of her with actor Dana Lee in a mysterious role. Quinn has a lot going on in this movie and is clearly quite popular.

From the moment that first teaser dropped, the one that looked like a Miley Cyrus music video from 2013, I thought this movie looked…strange. I didn't know if that was a good or bad thing, but I knew it would take some work to get me on board. However, though I'm entirely sold on the approach, my attitude has changed from "this looks strange and unappealing" to "this looks different." With a smaller budget and the urge to try something new fueling it, BIRD OF PREY will be a departure from the other DC blockbusters, and we'll probably come to see that more and more as the months go on.
