I think it's safe to say that one of the most anticipated horror movies of all-time is director Andy Muschietti's upcoming take on the second part of Stephen King's IT. We already know the movie will begin shooting this summer and has already cast the likes of Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader, James Ransone, Andy Bean, and Jay Ryan as the adult Loser's Club.
But today Pennywise himself Bill Skarsgard spoke to Den of Geek about IT: CHAPTER 2 and had some interesting things to say, such as his thoughts on the evolution of Pennywise and what he thinks of the adult casting thus far.
Skarsgard on prepping for the sequel:
We're gearing up for it now, so I'm sort of in the process of getting back into that character of Pennywise. I’m sort of in the mindset and we're gearing up for it. I think they start in July. I'm not sure exactly when my start date is, but sometime this summer.
He then talked a bit about the new film's script and how he and director Andres Muschietti are handling Pennywise's evolution:
We're figuring it out, you know… I have a very good relationship with Andy, not only as a director and actor but also just as a very close friend, so we're having fun with it and we're figuring out what we're going to bring to the table for part two.
Finally, Skarsgard spoke a bit about how he feels about the newly cast adult Loser's Club:
It's going to be a very different experience this time around, just given the fact that you have all of these incredible, seasoned actors to play against, as opposed to having all the kids. So it's going to be a different experience for sure.
I'm excited to see what Skarsgard has in store for us in this sequel. He killed it as Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the original film and I can only imagine he will do the same this time around the carousel as well. I just hope they include a scene that points out that Skarsgard is now YOUNGER than the rest of the cast, and possibly even a scene where he approaches the Loser's Club sans make-up. That would be fucking cool.
We'll see once the film hits theaters September 6th, 2019.
