The ball is finally rolling down the hill of progress on New Line's adaptation of Stephen King's IT.
After seemingly being on track for a bit with Cary Fukunaga at the helm and Will Poulter donning the terrifying clown makeup of Pennywise, everything fell apart. Fukunaga left over those damn creative difference and Poulter was then unavailable for New Line's new timeframe and it was back to the drawing board.
However, things have picked up once again with MAMA's Andy Muschietti filling the director's chair void, and now it appears he has found his own version of IT's nightmarish clown. Bill Skarsgard of HEMLOCK GROVE fame will star in the two-parter as the evil creature who terrorizes a group of friends as both children and adults. In addition, Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs and Jeremy Ray Taylor will round out the cast.
Much like the beloved 1990 TV movie ABC aired in 1990 (which featured Tim Curry as Pennywise), this version of IT will split the story among two chapters, with the first film focusing on the child versions of the Losers Club defeated It early in their lives. The second film will shift to them as adults battling the shape-shifting villain who can transform into what its targets fears are.
