I’ve always wondered why there hasn’t been a good horror flick involving Bigfoot, but it appears the waiting is about to end. Indie filmmaker Andy Davis is currently wrapping up production on his zombie film titled 2, and he has announced his next project will be a film titled MONSTER IN THE WOODS. Just as the case with 2, Davis will be directing MONSTER IN THE WOODS from a script that was written by Al Lamada.
The story centers on two cryptozoologists (Jana Regan and Seth Holbrook) who investigate some recent Sasquatch sightings in the Maine forests and have to contend with the local sheriff, assorted suspicious (and gun-toting) residents and a rival researcher in their quest to track down the man-beast.
“MONSTER IN THE WOODS is the Bigfoot movie we’ve always wanted to make,” Davis told the boys over at Fangoria. “I grew up watching a show called SCI-FI THEATRE every Sunday morning, and every three weeks they showed the classic LEGEND OF BOGGY CREEK. It really struck a chord in me; I have always been drawn to genre films that weren’t shot on sets, but took the camera right into the wild and showed the people and landscape as they really were.”
