BIG HERO 6 directors Don Hall and Chris Williams recently said Disney isn't currently developing a follow-up, however star Genesis Rodriguez believes a sequel might be in the works. Rodriguez has been out promoting her new movie RUN ALL NIGHT, and the actress said she has heard talks of a BIG HERO 6 sequel during an interview with Screen Rant.
There’s rumblings of something else happening. I mean yesterday I just saw that it’s the third most grossing Disney animated feature, so this is huge for them. I doubt that they wouldn’t want to do another one. It was a huge success.
Genesis Rodriguez went on to say "Just like comic books, you could make it a complete different story and the superheroes reunited to attack someone else. So it’s a perfect little setup they got for a sequel if they wanted to."
I'd be shocked if Disney decided not to do a sequel. BIG HERO 6 received glowing reviews from most critics, was a big hit at the box office, and last month it won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature. But I'm definitely down for another movie, and I am glad Disney isn't trying to rush a BIG HERO 6 sequel to the big screen.
Genesis Rodriguez's RUN ALL NIGHT will hit theaters on March 13, 2015.
