Beverly Hills Cop 4, cast

Production on Beverly Hills Cop 4 is currently underway, but Eddie Murphy isn’t the only actor returning for this latest installment of the franchise. A photo taken on the set of Beverly Hills Cop 4 shows that Judge Reinhold and John Ashton are back for more as well!

Eddie Murphy first played Axel Foley in 1984’s Beverly Hills Cop, which found the street-wise Detroit cop travelling to California to track down the killers of his friend. Even though it was out of his jurisdiction, Foley teamed up with two reluctant detectives from the Beverly Hills Police Department. Those two reluctant detectives were William “Bill” Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton). Reinhold and Ashton returned for Beverly Hills Cop 2, but only Reinhold appeared in Beverly Hills Cop 3. No word on what the pair are up to in Beverly Hills Cop 4, but it will be great to see them once again.

The official title for the sequel is Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley. In addition to Eddie Murphy, Judge Reinhold, and John Ashton, the sequel will also star Taylour Paige and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Paul Reiser is also expected to reprise his role as Detective Jeffrey Friedman from the first two movies.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah were once expected to direct Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley but wound up departing to focus on Batgirl. Mark Molloy has stepped in to direct from a screenplay by Will Beall. Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley doesn’t have an official release date yet, but it will be released on Netflix when all is said and done. Are there any other original characters who you hope will return for Beverly Hills Cop 4?
