Better Call Saul will feature living and dead Breaking Bad characters

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Ever since the BREAKING BAD spin-off BETTER CALL SAUL was announced, creator Vince Gilligan has teased the possibility of seeing some favorite characters pop-up in the prequel. But, now there may even be a chance of seeing Heisenberg himself appear on the series. For those of you who have finished BREAKING BAD, you may be asking how Walter White (Bryan Cranston) could reprise his drug kingpin character. It may be because BETTER CALL SAUL is not just a prequel.

Executive producer Peter Gould told The New York Daily News that BETTER CALL SAUL will not be confined to events prior to BREAKING BAD and will jump through multiple timelines to tell the stories involving Saul Goodman.

“One of the great things about having a timeline which is flexible is that perhaps some of it takes place before Breaking Bad, during Breaking Bad, and after Breaking Bad. That gives us the ability to bring back characters that were killed on Breaking Bad.”

While I think the goal of BETTER CALL SAUL will be to not rely on stunt casting by bringing back Bryan Cranston or Aaron Paul too often, the character of Saul Goodman is intrinsically linked to the events of BREAKING BAD so these would be vital moments that could alter who the snarky lawyer is as a human being.

AMC already has a great deal of confidence in the series having already greenlit a second season to air in 2016. BETTER CALL SAUL will debut in early 2015.
