When in doubt, a heart-warming drama wrapped up in a buddy comedy is typically a good way to go. Best Sellers follows Lucy (Aubrey Plaza) as she inherits her father’s failing publishing house and discovers that they’re actually owed a novel by the reclusive Harris Shaw (Michael Caine). After begrudgingly delivering the novel, Harris is forced to go on a book tour from hell by Lucy that forces them both to change in ways they didn’t expect. In addition to Michael Caine and Aubrey Plaza, Best Sellers also stars Ellen Wong, Scott Speedman, and Cary Elwes.
Michael Caine was recently seen in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet and Aubrey Plaza recently starred alongside Jason Statham in Guy Ritchie’s Five Eyes. The spy film follows an MI6 operative and a CIA agent who are recruited by the Five Eyes network in order to track down and stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology.

Lucy Standbridge (Aubrey Plaza) has inherited her father’s publishing house, and the ambitious would-be editor has nearly sunk it with failing titles. She discovers she is owed a book by Harris Shaw (Michael Caine), a reclusive, cantankerous, booze-addled author who originally put the company on the map decades earlier. In a last-ditch effort to save the company, Lucy and Harris release his new book and embark on a book tour from hell that changes them both in ways they didn’t expect.
Best Sellers will be released in theaters and On Demand on September 17, 2021.
