It's time for the best movie & TV trailers of the week!
Star Wars Celebration is dropping a whole slew of goodies this weekend, and the most exciting tidbit so far is none other than our very first teaser trailer for the next stop in the saga — STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER. It's been a long road, but now, the final chapter of the story is here from a galaxy far, far away. To be honest, I wish that Rian Johnson had directed this entry, but based on the trailer, I'm still pretty stoked to see what J. J. Abrams is bringing to the table for the end of the trilogy.
There's also a brand new TV spot for AVENGERS: ENDGAME, which shows the gang getting ready for the big fight against the Mad Titan. Iron Man, Ant-Man, Black Widow, Nebula, War Machine, Hawkeye, Rocket Raccoon, Captain Marvel and Captain America are gearing up for the last go-round, because even though it may seem like a suicide mission to pick a fight with Thanos, the man who wiped out half the whole with a snap of his fingers, these brave souls have sworn to avenge the fallen — no matter the cost. Witness the outcome of our noble Avengers' plight on April 26th, 2019.
I personally think STUBER looks hysterical and can't wait to check it out. Starring THE BIG SICK's Kumail Nanjiani as a cool tempered Uber driver and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY's Dave Bautista as the big cop with a short fuse, STUBER looks like the transportation system sent straight from Hell. Like COLLATERAL with a comedic edge, this story starts out innocent enough — a cop chasing a lead in need of a lift — but takes a wicked turn as the evening progresses and the situation shifts from casual car ride to full on, over-the-top speed chase. Count me in.
Next up, we have TV trailers! This week brings us THE SIMPSONS on DISNEY+, FLEABAG Season 2, CHAMBERS, EUPHORIA, TALES OF THE CITY, HOW TO SELL DRUGS ONLINE (FAST), SNEAKY PETE Season 3, and STREET FOOD.
I mean, were you really surprised? Of course, STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER took top tier when it came down to the best trailer of the week. I mean, you've got the Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) love triangle, you've got Han Solo (Harrison Ford)'s voice via voiceover saying the words "No one's ever really gone", you've got Billy Dee Williams as the interstellar cad Lando Calrissian, and then you've got Palpatine's (Ian McDiarmid) evil, villainous laugh to end the teaser. It's not even fair to call it a contest.
