If you woke up this morning wishing you had more AVENGERS: ENDGAME television spots in your life, boy, do I have good news for you! This week brings us not one, not two, not three, but four different TV spots for the wildly profitable ENDGAME, which, if you weren't already aware, is in theaters now. If you haven't seen the movie yet, who are you even? Get to the nearest theater before the spoilers get to you!
There's also a brand new trailer for Jim Jarmusch's THE DEAD DON'T DIE. Starring Adam Driver, Bill Murray and Chloë Sevigny, the film tells the story of how the peaceful town of Centerville finds itself battling a zombie horde as the dead start rising from their graves. I enjoyed Jarmusch's vampire movie ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE — although not as much as everyone else — so I'm looking forward to the director's take on the zombie genre. Also, this is supposedly Driver's funniest role to date. For a movie where the GIRLS star has to act alongside the king of comedy, Mr. Bill Murray, this rumor is quite the compliment. Huge if true.
It took film studios a little over fifty years to finally figure out what it is that women really want — Keanu Reeves whispering that he misses our thighs. Luckily, the brand new Netflix film ALWAYS BE MY MAYBE is here from director Nahnatchka Khan (a female director no less!) to bring girls the goods. The film follows Sasha (Ali Wong) and Marcus (Randall Park) a pair of childhood friends who end up falling for each other when they grow up. It looks downright adorable.
This week in TV trailers brings us BLACK MIRROR Season 5, HIS DARK MATERIALS, PRIMAL, YEARS AND YEARS, SUNNYSIDE, NANCY DREW, DAS BOOT, GAME OF THRONES: THE LAST WATCH, KATY KEENE, CHAD, SWAMP THING, EMERGENCE, BLUFF CITY LAW, WHAT/IF, PERFECT HARMONY, EVERYTHING'S GONNA BE OKAY, and PENNYWORTH.
THE DEAD DON'T DIE looks hilarious and I'm very stoked on the new season of BLACK MIRROR, but the winner for this week's best trailer is of course none other than Ari Aster's MIDSOMMAR. From the man who brought us the incendiary HEREDITARY comes the story of a young woman who reluctantly joins her boyfriend on a summer trip to a Swedish festival where things quickly go awry. The new trailer dives a little deeper into Dani (Florence Pugh) and Christian (Jack Reynor)'s rocky relationship, adding depth to the already unsettling WICKER MAN esque atmosphere. July 3rd can't get here soon enough.
