Best Movie & TV Trailers of the Week! Destroyer, If Beale Street Could Talk

Nicole Kidman kicking ass and taking names! Tree Gelbman caught back in the GROUNDHOG DAY esque loop! People turning into people! Sony finally admitting Eddie Brock is in love with his alter ego Venom! It's time for the best movie and TV trailers of the week!

First up we have one of the best Blu-ray trailers to come across in quite some time, the holiday-themed, DEADPOOL inspired VENOM promo. There's been a theory bouncing around the internet for some time now that there might be some subliminal messages regarding the sexuality of our journo lead in the utterly ridiculous but wildly profitable VENOM, and now, it looks as though the studio has finally decided to lean in the to the fandom and accept the bromance as canon. Of course, the trailer is also somewhat riffing on ONCE UPON A DEADPOOL's jolly Christmas vibes, but if anything, this depiction of the Klyntar Symbiote proves that the marketing team behind VENOM knows exactly what they're doing.

There's also a great look at Karyn Kusama's incredibly impressive DESTROYER, in which Nicole Kidman plays a Robert De Niro gangster type in one of her best performances to date. I loved this movie when I caught it back at Fantastic Fest in Austin, and I can't wait for the world to see what director Kusama's latest endeavor holds. I'd also like to take this moment to recommend that everyone check out her previous film, THE INVITATION, which is streaming right now on Netflix.

Blumhouse is back in action with a wicked fast turnaround sequel to their mega successful HAPPY DEATH DAY, aptly titled HAPPY DEATH DAY 2U. The second film sees unlucky protagonist Tree Gelbman stuck back in the loop that caused her so much trouble in the first place — only this time, she's joined by all of her loved ones, and if she doesn't solve the case, their blood is on her hands. I was delightfully surprised by how much I enjoyed the first installment of this sweet little slasher, so I'm definitely curious to see what the second entry will entail for our time traveling sorority student.

There's also a great look at the upcoming Steve Carrell led WELCOME TO MARWEN, which is sure to be a tear-jerker, as well as a peek at the fest favorite LIFECHANGER, and a final trailer for Barry Jenkins' IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK.

Next up we have the best TV trailers of the week. TNT's I AM THE NIGHT, directed by WONDER WOMAN's Patty Jenkins and starring Chris Pine, looks downright terrific. Also, INTO THE DARK'S POOKA episode caught my eye, but what TV shows are you most excited for? Watch our complete lineup below!

There were a lot of impressive trailers this week, but of course, the brilliant man who brought us the Oscar winning MOONLIGHT knocked it out of the park with his final peek at the upcoming IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK. I was blown away by Jenkins' previous film, and I can't wait to see his latest when it hits theaters on Christmas Day.
