The latest Birds of Prey poster is literally a work of art

Birds of Prey, Harley Quinn, superhero

The newest poster for BIRDS OF PREY (AND THE FANTABULOUS EMANCIPATION OF ONE HARLEY QUINN) has the potential to beat a bit of culture into those looking forward to DC's upcoming film featuring a flock of ass-kicking femme fatales.

Inspired by the timeless work of Italian painter Sandro Botticelli, the poster takes its inspiration from the Early Renaissance artist's 15th century artwork "The Birth of Venus." The new print replaces Botticelli's rendition of the goddess Venus with Daddy's Little Monster, Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie). Locked in a power stance that would make the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt green with envy, Harley stares ahead through an intense set of eyes, her trusty mallet in hand and ready for smashing. To Harley's left is her pet hyena, while on her right stands a adorably tenacious Bernie the Beaver, poised and ready for action. With his two front teeth bared for all to see, Bernie is looking battle-ready while wearing a candy necklace and pink tutu. As we scan the new poster, we also find a few hot dogs floating in the wind, as well as Harley's teammates: Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Huntress), Rosie Perez (Renee Montoya), Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Black Canary), and Ella Jay Basco (Cassandra Cane).

If you look beyond the Birds, you'll also find a haunting rendition of the amusement park featured in the trailer for the film. Between the paper lanterns, flowing robes, lipstick-kissed grenades, and Basco's giant diamond chair, I'd say that there's a lot to unpack with regard to this new poster.

Directed by Cathy Yan, BIRDS OF PREY (AND THE FANTABULOUS EMANCIPATION OF ONE HARLEY QUINN) is set to blast into theaters on February 7, 2020. In addition to the aforementioned actresses, the upcoming film also stars Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz and Ewan McGregor as Black Mask.
