The Grinch will be back to steal Christmas once again and when he does, he'll do so with the dulcet tones of Benedict Cumberbatch. Illumination Entertainment (THE LORAX) has had a animated remake of the Dr. Seuss classic in development for several years now and they finally announced who will be supplying the voice of the green curmudgeon at CinemaCon.
Bendict Cumberbatch (DOCTOR STRANGE) will be voicing the title role in Illumination's "newly imagined" version of DR. SEUSS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS which is being directed by Pete Candeland and Yarrow Cheney. The last film based upon Dr. Seuss' story was a live-action adaptation by Ron Howard which starred Jim Carrey (under piles of latex) as the Grinch, but the most well known is likely still the original Chuck Jones animated special which featured the voice of none other than Boris Karloff. It'll be hard to top Karloff, but I'm willing to bet that Benedict Cumberbatch has what it takes to come close. If you're interested in what the Grinch will look like in the upcoming film you should prepare yourself, because…he'll look pretty much how he always does.
DR. SEUSS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS is set to be released on November 10, 2017.
