Well, well well … it appears as if DOCTOR STRANGE himself, Benedict Cumberbatch, could be trading his robes for a smart three-piece suit as the sullen, dreamy gargoyle-faced actor is reportedly in early negotiations with Fox Searchlight Pictures to star in THE MAN IN THE ROCKEFELLER SUIT.
David Bar Katz has adapted the novel written by Mark Seal entitled The Man in the Rockefeller Suit: The Astonishing Rise and Spectacular Fall of a Serial Impostor with Donald De Line set to produce for Fox Searchliight. The film will tell the disturbingly true story of Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter, an imposter who conned his way into various jobs on Wall Street – as well as a marriage to a successful business woman with whom he had a daughter – while posing as a member of the Rockefeller family. After slithering his way into several prominent social circles, the truth about his deception finally surfaces, causing him to lose everything.
Furthermore, Gerhartsreiter was arrested on August 2, 2008, six days after he abducted his daughter while she was on a visit. He was subsequently convicted of the custodial kidnapping and was later charged for that crime in addition to being involved in the disappearance and murder of a married couple.
Seeing as the pen has yet to hit the paper, no more details regarding this deal are known at this time. We'll be sure to keep an eye out for updates, though. Meanwhile, you can check out Bumberbatch when he steps into the role of Thomas Edison for the Weinstein Company's THE CURRENT WAR.
