Benedict Cumberbatch gets his ass kicked in the brief teaser for short film Little Favour

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Benedict Cumberbatch may be the hot actor in Hollywood right now, but he is still willing to take time out of huge projects to help a friend break into the industry. Cumberbatch stars in the short film LITTLE FAVOUR for rookie director Patrick Victor Monroe. Monroe worked as a personal assistant to Tom Hardy on films like THIS MEANS WAR and TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY. It was on that film that he met Cumberbatch and the two hit it off.

Now, Cumberbatch has helped Monroe launch his Indiegogo campaign for LITTLE FAVOUR, a project that originally was looking for $40,000 but has instead amassed $138,000. The short also stars Nick Moran and Colin Salmon and looks pretty damn good. The film also will appeal to Cumberbatch haters as the man who is both Sherlock Holmes and Khan Noonien Singh gets his ass handed to him.

The short film follows Wallace (Cumberbatch), a former British military officer who is contacted by James (Nick Moran), the American counterpart who saved his life during the Iraq war. Just as Wallace begins to overcome PTSD and put his life back together, James requests payback.

Monroe was not looking to fund a feature length film, but if you watch the teaser then you certainly would be interested in finding out what happens in the full 22 minute film. Monroe has obviously been paying attention to the directors he has seen in action and it shows on screen. Could we be seeing the birth of a new talent behind the camera? Possibly, but at the very least we will get to see a cool short action film.
