Although it's not exactly shocking news, it is nice to have confirmation that Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) will indeed appear alongside the rest of the Marvel heroes in the sure to be jam-packed AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR. With the threat of Thanos (Josh Brolin) quickly approaching and sure to affect the whole of the Marvel Universe, the question at this point isn't who will be in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, but rather, who won't be.
When asked by Empire (via Express) what was next for Doctor Strange, Benedict Cumberbatch responded by commenting on the "logistical challenge of aligning his schedule with those of Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany." While he didn't outright name AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, there's only one upcoming Marvel film in which all those actors will appear. Benedict added that getting "us all together will be quite something. That’s why this character is being introduced, to open up the next chapter. So watch this space to see how that unfolds.”
Empire also released several new photos from DOCTOR STRANGE, giving us fresh looks at Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams), Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen).
DOCTOR STRANGE will hit theaters on November 4, 2016 and AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR will follow on May 4, 2018.
