Previews for non-existent movies have become increasingly popular in the past few years, to the point where some have been expanded to feature length.
Ben Stiller is getting serious about these satirical two-minute “money shot” collections, launching THE FAKE TRAILER PROJECT through his Red Hour production company.
Deadline says there will be at least a dozen trailers to be distributed online weekly later this year, and “among the actors and directors who’ll contribute content are Stiller’s TROPIC THUNDER co-writer Justin Theroux, NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM scribes Tom Lennon & Ben Garant, and CLUELESS helmer Amy Heckerling.”
Stiller threw a handful of amusing examples in front of TROPIC THUNDER, but he actually has a long history of parody ads dating back before he even had “The Ben Stiller Show” in the 90s — see for yourself.
