Ben Hardy joins X-Men: Apocalypse in a key comic book role

Let the speculation begin! While we don’t know who Ben Hardy will play, reports tonight tell us that the young start of BBC’s EastEnders has joined the cast of Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. He will take on the role of a “significant” character in the comic book Marvel Universe. While Ben Hardy may not be recognizable to many of us stateside, the actor was in contention to play Cyclops earlier this year, that role ultimately went to Tye Sheridan.

The final film in the trilogy starts filming in April with a cast that so far includes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Evan Peters, and of course Oscar Isaac will play the title villain Apocalypse. We have newcomers Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Sheridan playing young versions of Storm, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler and Cyclops.

It’s anyone’s guess as to who he could be playing; names like Cable and Warren Worthington III, aka Angel are being thrown around. I would be up for either one of those characters to make an appearance. Hardy has been in almost 200 episodes of the BBC series which takes up most of his resume on IMDb. He’s got a fresh face which only means one thing around these parts, that he’s going to be in a YA movie any day now.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE opens on May 27, 2016.

Who do you think Hardy might be playing?
