Back in February, it was being reported that BFFs Ben Affleck and Matt Damon would be reuniting for THE TRADE, a film about New York Yankee teammates Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich who stunned the country when they disclosed in 1973 that they were trading wives. Damon and Affleck were to play the ballplayers while Affleck would also direct. But that might no longer be the case…
According to MTV, Affleck (THE TOWN, GOOD WILL HUNTING) stated that he and brother Casey (GERRY) would be re-writing the script, and that perhaps Matt Damon would be taking the helm.
“I don’t know how it’ll come together, acting and directing, but Casey and I have decided to write it together. Once the script’s kind of ready, then it’s like: Who’s doing what? What’s the time frame? Matt, me, Casey directing? Particularly for Matt, he’s had this extraordinary career where he’s worked with these great directors. He’s a great director who just hasn’t directed a movie.”
It’s true that Damon has worked with his fair share of great filmmakers – everyone from Steven Soderbergh and Martin Scorsese, to Clint Eastwood and Steven Spielberg (not to mention fellow actor-turned-director George Clooney). Might Damon acquit himself well in the director’s chair should this possibly pan out? Tell us what you think below!
