Ben Affleck had fun playing Batman in The Flash after difficult Justice League shoot

Ben Affleck is sharing his thoughts about returning as Batman in the upcoming DC Comics film The Flash and it sounds like it was a much more fun experience following the tumultuous time on Joss Whedon’s 2017 film Justice League.

Affleck spoke with “Variety” about reprising his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the Andy Muschietti-directed The Flash which once again features Ezra Miller in the title role. Affleck said, “It was a really nice way to revisit that as the prior experience had been difficult. This was really lovely. Really fun.” The actor went on to joke about his statements by saying “I had a great time. I’m probably under some gag order that I’m not even aware that I probably just violated and now I’m going to be sued.”

Affleck also took the time to praise Ezra Miller and said he got to see Jason Momoa during his time shooting over in the U.K. The actor said, “I love Ezra and I had a chance to see Jason [Momoa], who’s over there making Aquaman [and the Lost Kingdom].”

Ben Affleck hasn’t really publicly discussed his experience shooting Justice League which saw director Zack Snyder having to depart the shoot due to a family emergency and had director Joss Whedon being brought on to finish the job. The Justice League shoot debacle has been discussed from all angles but essentially Whedon did more than finish the film but he also scheduled many reshoots, tonally changed the film Snyder was originally trying to make and he clashed with some of the film’s stars. Ray Fisher, who played Cyborg in the film, was the first and most vocal member of the cast to detail Whedon’s alleged unprofessionalism on set. Once his claims prompted an investigation, it was revealed that Gal Gadot had her own situation with Whedon while shooting Justice League and Jason Momoa also later revealed via his Instagram that working on the film, under Whedon, wasn’t pleasant. All of this led to the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League on HBO Max which allowed the director to present the film he originally intended. All of the film’s stars supported the release and it proved to be successful on the platform.

What are YOUR thoughts on Affleck’s comments about filming The Flash? The Ezra Miller-led superhero film, which also sees the return of Michael Keaton as Batman, hits screens on November 4, 2022.
