Remember when Harrison Ford‘s “minor” STAR WARS: EPISODE VII injury turned out to be a pretty big deal? Well, the star of another major sequel has gotten himself hurt. This time it is Batman himself, Ben Affleck, who was injured last week on the set of BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE according to Batman News.
The site’s news comes from the less than reliable tabloid Star but has supporting proof from set videos taken over the last month by fans.
The 41-year-old was sent home from set after straining his body due to a complicated move using his left shoulder. “It was hurting him pretty bad,” a source reveals. “He’s putting his all into this role and it’s pretty physically demanding. The trips to the gym are two, sometimes three times a day and on set he’s like a machine.”
The video in question, embedded below, at the one minute mark shows Affleck talking with Zack Snyder and holding his shoulder gingerly. All indications are he has gotten over the injury at this point, but the sources also say it got bad enough that his stunt double was needed for a scene requiring Bruce Wayne to pick up a small child.
I am trying not to be an alarmist right now, but the Ford injury has made me concerned any time someone gets hurt. Affleck sounds like he is going full throttle to make the role of Batman a memorable one, but hopefully not at the cost of being ready to film JUSTICE LEAGUE or even work on his directorial projects as well.
BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE opens March 25, 2016.
